Students enjoy both a morning and afternoon recess as part of their daily routine. In addition, teachers are intentional about incorporating outdoor learning into lesson plans whenever possible, allowing students to explore, move, and learn beyond the classroom.

The Bridge program offers children the gift of time—an additional year to grow, mature, and build confidence before entering Kindergarten. It is designed for students who may benefit from extra time to develop socially, emotionally, or academically in a nurturing, age-appropriate environment.

The program focuses on strengthening foundational skills such as self-regulation, social interaction, fine motor development, and early literacy and math readiness. Our goal is to meet children where they are and help them thrive at their own pace, ensuring they enter Kindergarten feeling prepared, capable, and confident.

Snacks and lunch are provided by parents. For special events or holidays, families will be notified in advance if the school provides a treat. St. Mark also offers a nutritious school lunch program, and families may choose to participate or send lunch from home. Learn more about our school lunch program here.

At this stage of development, we encourage and expect preschool students to use the restroom independently. This includes the ability to:

• Recognize and communicate when they need to use the restroom

• Manage clothing and fasteners independently or ask for assistance

• Use toilet paper appropriately and flush

• Wash and dry hands afterward

Teachers provide supervision and verbal guidance to ensure safety, but they do not assist with toileting.

Yes. Students wear uniforms Monday through Thursday. Wednesday is designated as Chapel Day, and students wear a specific chapel uniform. Fridays are Spirit Days, when students may wear a St. Mark Lutheran School spirit shirt.
